Characterization of Some Orange and Yellow Organic and Fluorescent Pigments by Raman Spectroscopy
نویسندگان
چکیده
Raman spectroscopy has become one of the most important vibrational analytical techniques for the investigation of paint samples and notably for organic pigments. For the analysis of modern materials, especially for synthetic inorganic and organic pigments the prospect of using Raman spectroscopy is an alternative to e.g. Py-GC-MS. It provides enough information allowing for a broad characterization of colourants either in raw samples, on cross-sections or insitu. One of the advantages of Raman spectroscopy over FTIR analysis is that it allows the detection of weak IR frequencies such as stretching vibrations of chemical groups, e.g. the nitro group in azo pigments, which represents the biggest family of organic pigments found in paintings.

Raman identification of cuneiform tablet pigments: emphasis and colour technology in ancient Mesopotamian mid-third millennium
Cuneiform tablets tell the life and culture of Sumerian people in a sort of black and white tale because of the binary engraving technique. A leading question arises: did Mesopotamian people apply some kind of colour to decorate their tablets or to put emphasis on selected words? Some administrative and literary Sumerian cuneiform tablets of mid-third Millennium B.C. from the site of Kish (cent...

The color of light Here is the materials science connection. Understanding how pigments such as the chrome yellow and pink madder used by Homer in his watercolor respond to light and/or time can only be achieved using sensitive – preferably nonor minimally destructive – analysis techniques familiar to any materials scientist. Chemical analysis of the watercolor using surface enhanced Raman spec...
متن کاملRaman analysis of ancient pigments on a tile from the Citadel of Algiers.
A micro-Raman spectroscopy study of a multi-coloured (yellow, blue, white, redish-brown and brown-black) tile shard from the Citadel of Algiers was undertaken. XRD and EDX were used as complementary techniques. The study shows that the heterogeneous three-shade yellow pigment on the tile is composed largely of the ancient ternary (Pb-Sn-Sb) pyrochlore oxide with a dominant Pb-O vibration at 127...
متن کاملکاربرد طیفبینی میکرورامان در شناسایی غیرتخریبی بستهای نقاشی ایرانی
Micro-Raman spectroscopy is recently advocated to be used for the identification of organic mediums of paintings although it is mainly used for identifying artists’ pigments. The current paper presents an effort for estimating the feasibility of micro-Raman spectroscopy for identifying Persian binding mediums used in historical paintings. To do so, samples were prepared in two main groups based...
